T-Mobile has completed its takeover of Sprint after a nearly two-year effort. The event marks the end of Sprint both as a company and a telecommunications brand.
The merger also resulted in the handoff of longtime CEO John Legere’s position to Mike Sievert which had been anticipated. Sievert commented that “we see no changes in our long-term aspirations”, moving forward with their 5G network. Legere will continue to serve on the T-Mobile Board of Directors
T-Mobile and Sprint attempted to merge several times over the past several years amid regulatory and financial obstacles prior to the successful completion of the merger.
