NEBSA is proud to announce Amy Shaw as the keynote speaker for the NEBSA 2021 Conference. Amy Shaw became the President and CEO of the Nine Network of Public Media in February 2020. She is the first woman to lead the Nine Network in its 65-year history. Shaw is widely recognized and respected as a national leader and innovator in community engagement and digital media. She leads a talented team in groundbreaking work that leverages broadband resources and community engagement for measurable impact around important and complex issues facing communities.
Shaw has led numerous national educational initiatives that have created durable change in local communities, including Facing the Mortgage Crisis, public media's response to the national financial crisis. Shaw currently spearheads the American Graduate initiative to rally communities to improve outcomes for youth, a groundbreaking national/local public media initiative. She brings decades of national educational broadband experience and excellence helping public media organizations deepen their commitment as relevant and essential community institutions.
Shaw was an inaugural 2015 Eisenhower Zhi-Xing Fellow, spending a month in China to advance bilateral dialogue and understanding between the China and the United States. Shaw has served on numerous local and national boards. She is currently the vice chair of the FOCUS St. Louis board, the chairperson of the Webster University School of Communications Advisory Board, and serves on the St. Louis Regional Chamber and Grand Center, Inc. boards. She is deeply committed to the power of public media and the strengthening of communities across the country.
