Privacy Policy

NEBSA's privacy policy and mail opt-out procedures can be viewed here.

Copyright Notice and Disclaimer

This website (including, but not limited to, text, content, graphics, video, and audio) is protected by copyright as a collective work or compilation under U.S. copyright and other laws. Any unauthorized republication or redistribution is strictly prohibited. You may, however, create links to any URL on this website without receiving prior permission.

INFORMATION ON THIS WEBSITE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES, SO THE ABOVE EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

Information on this website may contain technical inaccuracies or typographical errors. Information may be changed or updated without notice. The National Educational Broadband Service Association (hereinafter “NEBSA”) may also make improvements and/or changes in the products and/or the programs described in this information at any time without notice.

Any comments or materials sent to NEBSA, including feedback data, such as questions, comments, suggestions, or the like regarding the content of any such documents (collectively “Feedback”), shall be deemed to be non-confidential. NEBSA shall have no obligation of any kind with respect to such Feedback. For any Feedback that you post, you hereby grant to NEBSA the royalty-free, irrevocable, perpetual, exclusive and fully sub-licensable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, perform and display such Feedback in whole or in part, worldwide and to incorporate it in other works, in any form, media or technology now known or later developed. Further, NEBSA shall be free to use any ideas, concepts, know-how, or techniques contained in such Feedback for any purpose whatsoever, including but not limited to developing, manufacturing, and marketing products incorporating such Feedback.

NEBSA hosts an online Discussion Board that is open to NEBSA  members, and  to any individual, business, organization, institution or professional society which supports the purposes of the Association after free subscription is requested and granted.. NEBSA does not necessarily endorse or support statements posted on the boards. Any information and material placed online are the views and responsibility of those posting the statements.

Information NEBSA publishes on the World Wide Web may contain references or cross references to NEBSA products, programs, and services that are not announced or available outside of the United States.

NEBSA makes no representations whatsoever about any other website which you may access through this one. When you access a non-NEBSA website, please understand that it is independent from NEBSA, and that NESBA has no control over the availability of or content on that website (see the note below). In addition, a link to a non-NEBSA website does not mean that NEBSA endorses or accepts any responsibility for the content, or the use, of such website. It is up to you to take precautions to ensure that whatever you select for your use is free of such items as viruses, worms, trojan horses, and other items of a destructive nature. IN NO EVENT WILL NEBSA BE LIABLE TO ANY PARTY OR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, SPECIAL OR OTHER CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES FOR ANY USE OF THIS WEBSITE, OR ON ANY OTHER HYPERLINKED WEBSITE, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY LOST PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, LOSS OF PROGRAMS OR OTHER DATA ON YOUR INFORMATION HANDLING SYSTEM OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF WE ARE EXPRESSLY ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

This website contains information about programs, products, and services offered by third parties, as well as links to third-party websites. The presence of a listing or such information does not constitute an endorsement by NEBSA of a particular company or organization, or its programs, products, or services.

Note: Legitimate websites (or Internet “domains”) sometimes change ownership. When this happens, the content may change drastically.  A good link can turn into a bad one overnight. NEBSA is aware of no tool for detecting this automatically. We manually check our links to outside web pages to the best of our ability and remove those that are no longer appropriate. If you find a link on this website to a page that is crude or offensive, please report it to the NEBSAA Webmaster—include [1] the URL (“web address”) of the offending site and [2] the URL of the NEBSA page containing the link to that site.

"Anonymous" information collected online

Generally speaking, you can visit the NEBSA website without revealing any personal information about yourself. We do keep a record of all server activity, which means that every page, image, or other type of file requested by your browser is written into a log file. Each entry in the log contains, among other things, information about the computer you’re using to connect to the Internet (its "IP address") and about your browser (e.g., which version of Internet Explorer you’re using). It does not, however, tell us anything about you personally. We use aggregate data from the web logs to determine how the site’s resources are being used and to refine its navigational structure. If the need arises, we may use the logs to trace the source of abusive or illicit activity. We do not share our web logs with any outside party.

Cookies

A "cookie" is a text file, stored on your computer, that includes information that identifies that computer and can be retrieved by our server to create a seamless browsing session. Most cookies used on the NEBSA site are deleted when your browser is shut down or in a fixed amount of time, whichever occurs sooner. Members-only pages and other restricted areas use this type of cookie.

Several areas of the NEBSA website use so-called “persistent” cookies. These files are retained on the user’s hard drive after the browser is shut down. For example, the Discussion Board offers the option of using cookies so that a user doesn’t need to log in again upon returning.

Most browsers accept cookies by default. If you set your browser to reject all cookies, these areas and others may not function properly. Most browsers have a setting whereby the browser alerts you when a server attempts to place a cookie on your hard drive; you are given the option of accepting or rejecting it.

NEBSA’s web server also places a persistent cookie used by our web log analysis software to identify returning visitors (actually, returning computers—see “Anonymous information collected” above). This is valuable to us in assessing the website’s effectiveness.

For more information on cookies, visit this US government site.

Material submitted online

Some areas of the NEBSA website allow you to submit questions or express your opinions (e.g., the Discussion Board). As stated in our legal notice, all submissions become the property of NEBSA.

Keep in mind that any information you post on the Discussion Board is immediately available to anyone with a web browser. Don’t give out more information than what you would like everyone in the world to know. You can, of course, edit or delete the messages you post there.

It should be noted that the e-mail address you submit as part of the registration process for the Discussion Board is not visible and cannot be retrieved by a member of the public. That person can e-mail you, but the system hides your e-mail address; in fact, you will learn that person’s e-mail address without revealing yours.

Links to other websites

The NEBSA website contains links to other websites. NEBSA is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. Check the privacy policy of a website before revealing any personal information.

Exceptions

In certain circumstances, and as an exception to this privacy policy, we may, without notice to you, release information to comply with any valid legal process such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute or court order, or in other special cases, such as, for example, suspected fraudulent or criminal activity, or an attempt to breach the security of NSTA or its website.

Privacy policy updates

We have tried to create a privacy policy that is comprehensive, readable, and durable. Despite our best efforts, we may find it necessary to revise it. Any changes will be made without prior notice. The current NEBSA privacy policy will continue to be posted at this address (www.nebsa.org/). If you have questions or comments about our privacy policy, please send them to webmster@nebsa.org
